About
The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a robotics tournament where young people build engineering and technology skills. Teams design and build their own robots and take them into competition.
FRC is also a community: it teaches collaboration and leadership as much as engineering. X-Sharc has competed since 2017 — from regionals in Istanbul, Izmir and beyond to the FIRST World Championship in Houston.
Mission
- Encourage creativity and innovation in engineering and technology.
- Build hands-on STEAM skills, so students grow through experience.
- Inspire young people to lead in science and technology.
- Bring STEAM awareness and knowledge to a wider audience.
How the team works.
5 departments, one team. Pick a department to see what it does.
CAD
Designs the robot in 3D modelling software to visualise and plan it before anything is built.
- BrainstormingThe team shares ideas and develops concepts together.
- PrototypingPrototypes are designed for the strongest ideas.
- Mechanism decisionMechanisms are chosen based on how the prototypes perform.
- Subsystem designEach subsystem of the robot is drawn in Onshape.
- AssemblyAll subsystems are combined into the final robot design.
