A co-working culture, brought to high school.
SAC X-Zone is a space designed to create opportunities for entrepreneurship, innovation and collaboration inside SEV American College.
Since summer 2017.
In summer 2017, SEV American College turned around 360 m² into a space for innovation, entrepreneurship and co-working.
Co-working spaces — from Silicon Valley to cities around the world — have become a home for creative, productive people from university onward. X-Zone brings that experience to high-school students, to grow their creativity and spread a spirit of making things together.
Beyond the school day, X-Zone stays a living co-working space, with entrepreneurship, innovation and production-focused workshops, camps and trainings held outside school hours and at weekends. Every area is furnished so students can work comfortably on their own devices.
Skills a curriculum alone can’t teach.
With a new industrial revolution and digital transformation under way, the skills expected of people in the 21st century are changing too. Alongside a science-based curriculum, students need to develop:
- Creativity
- Communication
- Collaboration
- Critical thinking
- Inquiry
- Digital literacy
- Entrepreneurship
X-Zone is where those skills get practised — by experimenting, working across disciplines, and solving real problems.
Rooted in a long tradition.
The Health and Education Foundation (Sağlık ve Eğitim Vakfı, SEV) brings together the American Colleges in Türkiye, with roots in the 1800s. SEV American College, its newest member, opened in September 2014 in Çekmeköy, Istanbul.
